Inspired by Wild Places
The Bob Marshall Collection is insulated with Lavalon Wool, made from traceable European wool, is 100% washable, and produced in Germany. Lavalon wool is made from a blend of Virgin Wool (82%) and Polylactide (18%). Polylactide (PLA) is a corn based, biodegradable fiber, that makes the wool stronger and more durable. The wool and corn-based PLA is bonded together using heat (thermobonded) and then needled flat, creating a denser and more abrasion resistant insulation layer.
Lavalon wool is great for high energy activities, again due its ability to thermoregulate. It can release moisture vapor up to 36% of its dry weight, and be water repellant (hydrophobic) at the same time. Wool wicks away odor causing bacteria, which keeps you smelling fresh, but also prevent unnecessary wash cycles.
Morale of this story, we love natural materials and use them whenever possible, and wherever it makes sense.
The “Bob” or more formally The Bob Marshall Wilderness, is named in honor of Bob Marshall, a forester with the U.S.Forest Service. It spans over a million undeveloped and roadless acres across northwestern Montana. The “Bob” preserves and embodies the spirit of Montana in all her beauty and grandeur. Our Bob Marshall Vest is inspired by this great place, beckoning us to explore wild places.
Wool is something we are all familiar with, but as insulation in a puffy coat, maybe not. Introducing the Bob Marshall Jacket. We love wool (among other natural fibers), for it antimicrobial and anti-odor properties. Not to mention it is one of nature's best insulators while at the same time remaining breathable and comfortable. Breathability in our mind translates directly to comfort. If a jacket can't breathe you aren’t going to be happy. The outer shell is made from 100% Recycled Nylon that underwent a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) Treatment. This jacket is machine washable.
